ป้ายกำกับ: ,

There are many people that suffer from GERD - or Acid Reflux Disease. GERD is a pain in the stomach and chest area that comes from many factors, such as the food that you eat, the things that you do, and the way that your body processes the food along with the physical movements of your body.

For the most part, GERD isn't something that is life threatening or that you need to worry about. However, there are some situations in which you should seek more medical help. One of these is if you are experiencing GERD and chest pain. However, you have to be a little bit careful.

Careful Symptom Diagnosis

Remember that often when a person has GERD, they are going to feel as if they have GERD and chest pain. This is because the areas that are damaged by the GERD and that are responding to either the food or the physical movements are located near to the chest. This means that a lot of people who have GERD have what feels like GERD and chest pain. Therefore, if you have GERD, you have to pay careful attention to what your chest is doing and whether or not you have simple pain associated with the GERD, or if it is something more serious.

There are several ways to know if your GERD and chest pain is something more than simple chest pain. If you have GERD, you should pay careful attention to these details, so that you can help your doctor know exactly what is wrong with you. Basic GERD will cause some pain in the chest region, but this should be normal pain and should not be very strong. It should be something that you get used to, and because of this, your GERD medication will help with it.

However, when you are experiencing GERD and chest pain that is something to worry about, there will be other symptoms. These will include a shortness of breath or pain along the arms or legs. Other important GERD and chest pain symptoms to look for would include a change in the overall chest pain. When you suffer from GERD and have chest pain, you can expect dull chest pain that lasts for along time. However, if your GERD and chest pain includes sharp or shooting pains instead of a dull ache, you are dealing with something that is much more severe and you should seek medical attention.

Acid Reflux Diet Concerns

ป้ายกำกับ: , ,

A proper acid reflux diet is designed to eliminate the symptoms of acid reflux or GERD. Sometimes called a GERD diet, this would include eating foods that do not trigger symptoms as well as avoiding ones that do trigger symptoms. Although there are some foods that seem to trigger symptoms on the majority of acid reflux sufferers, everyone is different and you should do some research to find which foods affect you.

Acid reflux affects over 40% of Americans and can be an annoyance at best and cause severe pain at worst so it’s no wonder there are certain dietary guidelines set forth to help ease suffering. Not only is it an uncomfortable condition, it can actually lead to more serious problems so it’s best to start treating it with diet and lifestyle changes as soon as possible

The pain of acid reflux is caused by stomach acid that come up into the esophagus so an acid reflux diet is designed t ohelp you avoid foods that cause stomach acid to rise. These foods may be different for different individuals but by now you have probably noticed that certain foods trigger your acid reflux symptoms and these foods should, of course, be avoided.

In order to properly identify which foods cause acid reflux for you, it might be wise to keep a food diary. You should aim to keep one for at least two weeks and write down everything you eat, when you ate it and any symptoms you have afterwards. Common acid reflux or GERD symptoms include burning in the throat, heartburn, chest pain, difficulty swallowing, regurgitation and discomfort in the abdomen. Please note that these symptoms also can indicate very serious conditions and you should consult your doctor if you experience them. Once you start your diary, you will see a pattern of foods that cause reflux symptoms and you can move to eliminate those foods from your diet.

In general foods that tend to cause acid reflux symptoms include: citrus, peppermint, fatty foods, alcohol, caffeinated beverages, spicy foods, potato salad, mashed potatoes, French fried or any fried food, carbonated beverages, garlic, white onions and chocolate.

In addition to your acid reflux diet restrictions, there are some other steps you might want to take to lessen symptoms. Avoid large meals and especially ones with a lot of fat as the extra time spent in the stomach will cause more acids to be produced. Don’t eat before bedtime - try to finish all eating 3 or 4 hours before bed. Avoid clothing that is tight around the abdomen area. Don’t take aspirin or ibuprofen. Eat several small meals instead of a few large ones. Also, losing weight can really help alleviate symptoms, even a 10% drop in weight could make a bid difference.
