Early Menopause: Curse Or Blessing?

ป้ายกำกับ: , ,

Author: David Faulkner

Early menopause often creeps up on women in their forties in uncomfortable ways. It may leave them feeling like they are suffering from a chronic, if mild, case of the flu. It can wreak havoc on their emotions by precipitating severe mood shifts; and it can leave them absolutely bewildered about why they are feeling as they do. But early menopause is neither a physical nor emotional illness; it is simply a natural part of the aging process.

Determining If You Are A Candidate For Early Mopause

Early menopause is surprisingly common, and for those women who held off on starting families because they were busy with careers or other responsibilities, it can be a most unwelcome surprise. Many women, therefore, would benefit from learning early in life if they are likely to experience early menopause, so that they can plan their families accordingly.

Unfortunately, there is no definite indicator that one woman is more likely than the next to experience early menopause. The onset of menopause is as unpredictable as the onset of a girl's first menstrual cycle, yet women would most definitely benefit if they could prepare for early menopause.

There is one hope: the tendency to early menopause may be inherited. To learn if you are a candidate for early menopause, you would need to talk to your female blood relatives to determine if they experienced it. If both your mother and her mother had early onset menopause, there is a high probability that you will as well.

The Advantages Of Early Menopause

While early menopause can eliminate the possibility of childbirth for some women who were looking forward to raising families, there are other women who find early menopause to be a blessing. Women who have moral objections to artificial forms of birth control, for example, will find early menopause the perfect solution to their desire not to have more children.

There are women who worry that early menopause will bring more difficult symptoms than menopause which occurs at a later age. But the severity of menopausal symptoms is more a result of your individual physiology than it is of the age at which menopause begins. If you are having real difficulty coping with early menopause, be sure to consult your gynecologist to see if there is any form of relief. Medicine has made terrific advances since the times when women simply had to live with the symptoms of menopause, so be sure you take advantage of them!

Kidney Stones in Women - Symptoms and Advice

ป้ายกำกับ: ,

By Nicholas Matthews

there are many people that suffer from kidney stones, although I have to admit that before I started to suffer from them myself I did not hear much about them. Once I had a problem with kidney stones it seems that everyone that ever had them came in contact with me with their own particular story about what they went through whatever they had them. The pain that is felt when you have a kidney stone is almost indescribable, and if you have never felt that particular pain then consider yourself lucky. Kidney stones are also indiscriminate, they don't care if they strike men or women. If you are a woman is having problems with kidney stones, or you would like to know the kidney stone symptoms in women and here is some information that might be of use to you.

Any pain that is felt from kidney stones is often the same in both men and women. Although many times you hear about the problems with kidney stones as being intense pain in the back, oftentimes a kidney stone can pass with little or no pain. I have had, in the past, what is known as silent kidney stones. There was no pain involved, however I had dark urine which let me know that that was a problem, and some bleeding somewhere along the line.

Eventually the kidney stone passed and the bleeding stopped. Sometimes, however, the pain that is felt from a kidney stone can circle around from the back to the front. Since women tend to, sometimes, have difficulty with cramping during their menstrual cycle than it is difficult to distinguish the difference if the pain is not too severe. You would also want to be careful with the amount of calcium that you take. Many women take calcium supplements because they do not get enough in their diet, however this could cause a problem as most kidney stones are caused by a buildup of calcium in the system.

ByShelley Ross

It’s not surprising for women to experience endometriosis with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Although each has its own notable characteristics, they are conditions that do have some common features.

So, it is important to identify the detailed symptoms both these conditions understand whether you have endometriosis, IBS or both.

An Overview of IBS and Endometriosis

The word irritable does not do justice to this digestive ailment. Infuriated or long-suffering seem like more appropriate adjectives for the bowel of someone with irritable bowel syndrome or IBS. Just reading a list of possible symptoms can start to make you feel a bit queasy.

You can have diarrhea or constipation, or the two can alternate and your stools can be hard and lumpy or soft and watery. For you, the call of nature can be abrupt — so abrupt that you just might not make it to the toilet in time. And even after you defecate, you may feel as though you haven’t eliminated fully. To top it all off, you may have abdominal pain, cramping and bloating. You can have one of these symptoms, a few of them or all of them. You may have them nonstop, frequently or every now and then.

Approximately 5 million Americans have IBS. The condition prompts approximately 3.5 million visits to a doctor’s office per year, with 20 to 50 % of all visits made to gastroenterologists. Interestingly, the condition is found in more women than men.

Taking the last factor into account, it is not surprising for women with endometriosis to experience IBS at the same time. In fact, studies reveal that women significantly show IBS symptoms during normal menstruation. With this, health experts say that reproductive hormones can definitely play a role in the development of endometriosis along with IBS.

Endometriosis and IBS may manifest with the same symptoms. There may even be the same level of pain. Endometriosis and IBS may have the following symptoms:

1. crampy abdominal pain

2. loss of appetite

3. severe piercing rectal pain

4. nausea (although this is not common)

5. increased gas

6. diarrhea

7. painful bowel movements

8. identifiable bloating

Most women also complain of constipation that seems to show a connection with the menstrual cycle. Rectal bleeding could also be a sign of both disorders.

Endometriosis is characterized by endometrial tissue that grows outside the uterus. This tissue resembles that of the endometrium, a thin lining found in the uterus. Development of endometriosis implants outside the uterus can be found anywhere in the body, including the intestines. This can minic the signs of IBS.

However, statistical reports show that up to 30% of women with endometriosis in the United States are affected with IBS as well.
