Sarcoidosis Symptoms And Causes

ป้ายกำกับ: ,

By: Naomi West

The immune system is referred to as the defence force of our body. It does anything it can to destroy anything hurtful that could be paining us. The immune system will protect the other organs of the body by sending out unique cells when it believes that they are under assault from a damaging substance.

When these cells arrive at the organ they will instantaneously loose chemicals that will bring some other cells to assist with destroying the disease that is making the damage. All of this healing is causing the infected area to grow inflamed. Only once that disease has been taken care of the cells and the inflammation will vanish instantly.

Individuals who have been diagnosed with sarcoidosis will find out that the inflammation has not gone away. During this medical condition the cells contained in the immune system will mold together and create granulomas that will hide within in distinct essential organs.

Sarcoidosis can damage any region of a person’s body - but it will ordinarily start out in the skin, lungs, and lymph nodes. It may also bear upon the liver and the eyes. In the extreme cases it will produce troubles with the heart and brain.

When a larger group of granulomas collect in a particular organ it will touch the way that the organ works and create signs and symptoms. It is hard to list the symptoms because they vary depending on the organ being attacked. It is possible for several people with this medical condition to not go through any symptoms while others may have moderate to severe symptoms.

The most standard symptom of sarcoidosis is listed as Lofgren’s syndrome. This syndrome will induce arthritis, fever, swollen lymph nodes, and erytheme nodosum. Erytheme nodosum is a skin rash that will appear on the ankles and shins.

Treatment for sarcoidosis will depend on the organs that are being attacked. Your physician will run a number of examinations to find what is being affected and might prescribe certain treatments and medicinal drugs to help handle the disease. Several people with sarcoidosis do not require any treatment. These people will commonly have no symptoms or very moderate cases.

Sarcoidosis is a medical condition in which the immune system is attacking parts of the body without cause or reason. For more information on this and other medical conditions visit Doctone.

What is Psoriasis and How to treat it

ป้ายกำกับ: , ,

by Ryan Hooper

What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a disease which affects the skin and joints and commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. The scaly patches are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Psoriasis can cause pain, itching, burning and emotional distress. It affects both sexes equally and can occur at any age, although it most commonly appears for the first time between the ages of 15 and 25.

Today more than seven million Americans suffer with psoriasis. Recent studies show that there may be an ethnic link. It seems that psoriasis is most common in Caucasians, slightly less in African Americans and far less common among Asians and Native Americans.

Psoriasis is not contagious. You can't catch psoriasis from another person or give it to someone by touching them, and you can't spread it to other parts of your body.

What Causes Psoriasis?

The cause of psoriasis is not fully understood. Recent research indicates that it is likely a disorder of the immune system in which the excessive reproduction of skin cells is secondary to factors produced by the immune system.

Scientists now think that, in psoriasis, an abnormal immune system causes activity by T cells in the skin. Normally, T cells help protect the body against infection and disease, but in the case of psoriasis, they mistakenly attack skin cells instead. The body then produces other immune system responses, leading to swelling and rapid production of skin cells.

In areas affected by psoriasis, there seems to be a rapid increase in the speed at which skin cells are replaced. Skin usually takes about 28 days to mature and shed, but in areas affected by psoriasis it only takes three or four days. The dead cells build up on the skin, forming thick, flaky patches called plaques.

It is not known what initiates the activation of the T cells.

Several factors are thought to aggravate psoriasis: Infections, Diseases that weaken the immune system, Stress, Certain medications, Smoking, Certain chemicals, Severe sunburn...

Psoriasis treatment

Today, there are many different treatments available to help control psoriasis. No single treatment works for everyone. The goal is to find a treatment that works the best with the fewest side effects. One of the first principles of psoriasis treatment is to not create anything worse than the disease.

There are three basic types of treatments for psoriasis:

1. Topical treatment (medicated ointments or creams applied to the skin)

2. Phototherapy (UVB, PUVA and lasers)

3. Systemic (medications taken into the body by pill or injection)

Alternative Psoriasis treatments

The use of alternative psoriasis treatments are becoming more common as more and more people choose to treat their condition in more nontraditional ways. They have become tired of finding a traditional therapy that works, or may be concerned about the side effects many of those therapies produce.

Alternative psoriasis treatments are in most cases perfectly safe and include:

Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Manipulation Treatment, Osteopathy, Climatotherapy, Diet, Dietary Supplements, Homeopathy, Water Therapies (Balneotherapy, Heliotherapy, Phytotherapy, Thalassotherapy), Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatments, Meditation and Relaxation, Herbology, Hypnosis, Moisturizing Products, Magnets, Epsom salt, Neem oil, Fasting...

Abscess Information And Some Ways To Prevent Them

ป้ายกำกับ: , , , , , ,

By Peter Salazar

An abscess is a collection or aggregation of pus on a cavity most commonly on the skin. Abscesses can actually develop in different areas on the skin and even inside the body. For serious abscesses, an operation may be necessary to drain out the pus. The pus is a think fluid that contains dead tissue, bacteria and white blood cells. Usually, an abscess is caused by bacterial infection. Not all bacterial infections result in the aggregation of pus. Bacteria that make toxins tend to result in the formation of pus since the toxins may damage the body's tissues. When bacteria produce toxins, the body's defense mechanism fights the bacteria. As a result of this body's reaction (i.e. its fight against bacteria), some tissues die. A cavity forms and starts to fill with pus. As the infection continues, the cavity may become bigger.

Abscesses may also be caused by small breaks or wounds in the skin. Some fungi may also cause abscesses. Individuals with weak immune systems are more prone to abscesses than others who have a healthy immune system.

There is no distinguishing characteristic on patients who get abscesses. Many skin abscesses can occur in healthy people. Aside from bacterial infection, there are usually no fundamental causes of abscesses. Once an abscess disappears after treatment, no further problems occur. Some abscesses may heal by themselves. It is normal for a scar to form once the (skin) abscess has healed. For large skin abscesses, the pus may be drained via a local operation that incises the top of the skin for the pus to drain. The more serious forms of abscesses, such as the ones that form inside the body, may be removed only via an operation. The operating techniques depend on the location of the abscess.

An small abscess on the skin may heal by itself since the pus would eventually burst out. However, abscesses inside the body should be taken seriously and one should at once consult a doctor for the removal of the abscess.

Abscesses can be prevented by strengthening the body's immune system. One way to do this is to take the proper doses of antioxidants. One of the strongest antioxidants is vitamin C, which even helps increase the cells ability to fight cancer. Food that are rich in this nutrient are very much recommended for strengthening the immune system. Other important antioxidants are vitamin E and carotenoids. Vitamin E strengthens body cells to fight infection while carotenoids strengthen the body by producing lymphocytes, or cells that fight infection. A good source of carotenoids are red, yellow, and orange fruits and vegetables. A diet of with high vegetable and fiber content helps in strengthening the body and not just one's immune system. Some people have also had success with colloidal silver which you can find a link below to "more helpful information" there it tells their experience.

Natural Solutions For Frequent Colds

ป้ายกำกับ: , , , ,

by: Robert Najemy

Some Possible Causes Might Be

1. Poor dietary habits which create a toxic build-up in the body.
2. A lack of proper nutrients.
3. Weakness in the immune system.
4. Emotional problems which suppress the body’s defense.
5. Over use of antibiotics.
6. Viruses - Bacteria.

EFFECTIVE NATURAL SOLUTIONS

When First Symptoms Appear

1. Vitamins - Immediately take plenty of vitamin C. You can take about a total of 3000 mg a day in small doses – say 200 mg at a time, which would mean 15 tablets a day.

Zinc is also a good immune enhancer. From 20 to 40 mg of Zinc can be taken daily until the cold subsides.

It is better to take both of these in tablet form so that you can suck on them and dissolve them in the mouth. In this way, the active power of these two substances can be absorbed by the cells of the mouth and throat area and thus strengthening the power of the cells to protect themselves.

2. Immediately cleanse the nostrils and gargle with salt. If the cold continues after the first day, then discontinue the washing of the nostrils but continue 3 or more times a day gargling with salt or lemon water.

3. Avoid eating solid food, especially cheese, milk and all dairy products, as well as white flour, white sugar and any products made from them. They form excess mucus, which increases the symptoms of the cold.

4. Drink plenty of liquids especially fresh citric fruit juices: oranges, lemons, grapefruits, as well as herb teas, and vegetable broth.

5. If you feel very hungry and must eat, then the best food would be a raw salad or a hot, spicy soup. A very effective soup is onion soup made from onions, garlic, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and other spices. (Not if you have ulcers.)

6. For those who are familiar with stomach cleansing with slightly saltly water, this is very effective for removing accumulated mucus from the body. (Not if you have an ulcer).

7. An enema is also effective in helping the body purify itself of accumulated toxins.

8. Get plenty of rest and do plenty of deep relaxation. Also perform any exercises you feel up to doing. They will facilitate the renewal of the body’s vital energies and thus its ability to heal itself.

9. Keep your body warm and protected from drafts.

10. Shiatsu massage of the neck and head can be miraculously relieving and beneficial. (Reflexology can be used to free up the sinuses).

IF THE COLD CONTINUES

11. Continue with the vitamins taking up to 3000 mg of C. and up to 30 mg of Zinc per day until the symptoms disappear. If the cold lasts more than a week, then you might want to check with a doctor as to why your body is not healing itself.

Other antioxidants such as vitamins E, A and Selenium and various enzymes such as Super Dioxide Dismutase call also be very useful.

12. Continue to avoid solid food as much as possible. Drink plenty of juices and broths. If you feel very hungry, eat raw salad or hot spicy soup.

13. Take occasional hot baths (covering yourself well afterwards).

14. Slow deep breathing will re-energize your body. Breathe as slowly as you can, letting as little air as possible pass through the nostrils. Gradually they will open up.

15. Do not continue with the cleaning of the nostrils, but do continue with frequent gargling.

16. Gentle exercises can open up the nostrils and also the flow of energy in the body.

17. Use deep relaxation to imagine the body’s defense system healthy and powerful and invincible.

18. Be happy and relaxed.

Food Allergies : Why the Drama?

ป้ายกำกับ: , , ,

by: Marilyn Franklin

Food allergies continue to get a lot of press. Many people wonder why it is getting so much attention. Statistics continue to show that food allergies are on the rise. As an example of that it can be noted that the number of children with peanut allergies doubled in a five-year period ending in 2002. This is significant because food allergy is the leading cause of anaphylaxis which can be fatal in some cases. Most of the press coverage focuses on the young victims of food allergy reactions.

Peanut allergies can be the worst type of allergies. Peanut oil can be found in many ingredients and under many circumstances. Tragically an incident that received a lot of coverage in the last few years was when a teenage girl died after kissing her boyfriend who had just eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Her throw was swollen shut. This tragic type of event happens more commonly than you think.

The danger of food allergies is that the reaction of the sufferer can be quite varied. Some people might feel sick to their stomach after they eat something that they're allergic to. While others may experience swelling in the face, the body and the lips. The swelling can affect the sufferer's airways (anaphylaxis). Rashes and hives are also some common reactions.

What type of foods cause allergies?

  • milk/dairy

  • eggs

  • peanuts

  • wheat

  • fish

  • shellfish

  • sugar

  • yeast

Since food allergies can cause the extreme allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. Many sufferers end up in the emergency room. The key to avoiding those types of incidents is to make sure you do the most you can to educate yourself about possible food allergies that you or your family may be exposed to. Something as simple as an epinephrine pen can save your life.

If you have very young children you need to make sure to tell everyone that takes care of them of any food allergies your child may have. It is very common nowadays to have nut free childcare facilities. Not only should you make sure that you inform people about your own child you also need to be aware of any food policy that may be in effect to safeguard other children. Nut allergies like many of the food allergies can be tricky since not only are they found in the main food itself they can be used as ingredients in other foods. A sugar allergy and the yeast allergy are good examples of that. Keep in mind though that many people are confused by food intolerance and a natural food allergy. A true allergy involves the immune system.

So now that you know what the drama all about is up to you to make sure you get the most information you can regarding any issues that may come up for you and your family regarding food allergies. The best source is definitely your doctor though there is plenty of information available online to help you get started. If you suspect that you or a loved one are suffering from some sort of reaction to food schedule a visit with your doctor. They may also further direct you to an allergist.
