Melamine - What is It?

ป้ายกำกับ: ,

By Ric Bai

Melamine is - an organic base chemical most commonly found in the form of white crystals rich in nitrogen. Melamine is widely used in plastics, adhesives, counter tops, dishware, whiteboards. Why was it used in dog food and now baby formula in China? In China water has been added to raw milk to increase its volume. By diluting the milk the protein concentration is lowered. Companies selling the milk are checked for protein levels through a test measuring nitrogen content. Adding melamine increases the nitrogen content of the milk and therefore its apparent protein content. This same method was applied to the tainted pet food in 2007.

Now are friends ate the FDA say this "The FDA has never judged melamine contamination to be particularly dangerous, as the substance is very non-toxic". Another comment I came across is "Some speculation that the 2007 scare was a political affair and the threat of melamine contamination has been largely over stated". I guess thousands of pets who either died or contracted some degree of kidney failure was a coincidence. Most recently the Chinese manufacturers have infected there own people with this stuff.

Folks, this is one more reason from a long list that we must look out for our own health and get educated because if we count on the FDA and others we are in trouble. Our bodies can only handle so much toxins before it starts to breakdown. Who is to say that the food given to chickens and beef are not already skewed causing a increase in diseases.

Here are a few more problems Melamine can create - combined with cyanuric acid, which may also be present in melamine powder, melamine can form crystals that give rise to kidney stones. These small crystals can block the small tubes in the kidney stopping the production of urine and causing kidney failure, in some cases death.

Symptoms and signs of Melamine poisoning: Blood in urine, low to no urine flow, high blood pressure and high enzyme count from kidneys.

The bottom line is and not being a scientist, who needs it. We know the manufacturer is trying to save money while boosting the protein count to meet nutritional standards. I don't know about you, but I'm appalled the FDA would even consider this crap in the slightest as not to bad. Sell that to the thousands of pet owners or parents of the children tainted with this stuff. These are just more reasons to watch your health, get educated and remember
