IBS Diarrheal Diet

ป้ายกำกับ: , ,

by Heath Medcalf

When you are suffering from chronic Diarrhea disorder, what you eat and how to eat becomes a major consideration in controlling the disorder. While there is nothing classified as a Diarrheal diet, the following eating strategy consisting of four easy ways you will make sure that your diet is not aiding it further.

1. Aim for small meals

Patients suffering from IBS are taught to easily identify trigger foods, which usually cause the irritation. While certain food items certainly don't go well with the GI tract, causing greater irritation, at times the size of the meal also aggravates the situation and a large meal might immediately bring about a violent response. Larger sized meals usually result in escalation of contractions in the intestines, necessitating urgent visits to the restroom, which is a symptom of Diarrhea. The first rule of a Diarrheal diet is to restrict the size of your meals.

2. Opt for low fat meals

The second rule of Diarrheal diet is to avoid high content of fat in the meals. High fat also might cause intensive intestinal contractions, and it is best advised to keep away from fried, oily and creamy-layered food. Higher fat content is certainly present in fried foods and oily food items. Dairy products like cheese contain a high fat content, and it is best advised that you keep off from such high fat content items, so that your system works in a more rhythmic order and your condition gets mitigated through such a low fat content meals.

3. Smaller meals throughout the day

Another important aspect of Diarrheal diet is to ensure you take smaller portions of food throughout the day. Many patients suffering from Diarrhea-predominant IBS try to be on empty stomach to avoid unnecessary visits to restrooms. Instead, you should eat smaller meals throughout the day, giving a chance to your digesting system to get back a rhythm in its functioning, and also ensure that you are not hungry and as such you don't go for larger meals at the end of the day. Hence the third cardinal principle of Diarrheal diet is to - smaller size meals throughout the day.

4. Quieter times are testing times!

You should also ponder over the reasons for Diarrhea. Should you blame only the foods for this condition? Remember, Diarrhea can be caused even due to stressed conditions or changes in your hormones. Identify these trouble mongers, before opting for stronger medical starvations. Remember if you restrict food you are likely to suffer from deficiency in nutrition. When your system is quiet, you should test foods which you suspect of giving you Diarrhea, to determine whether they are the trouble mongers.

MS or Multiple Sclerosis is in the first place a life long chronic disease. Many people have been victims of this disorder. When this protein becomes damaged, messages from the brain and spinal cord get "short-circuited". Inflammation then occurs in various areas of the body, and when this occurs, symptoms worsen and at time, new symptoms develop.

As mentioned earlier, many people suffered form this disease. It was reported that twice as many women as men have multiple sclerosis. There is actually no evidence that MS is directly inherited, but there is considered a predisposition to the illness among the family members.

Being so serious, MS gained interest from a number of people around the world. Both those who suffer and non-victims of MS were encouraged to find out some facts about multiple sclerosis. And, as more and more people are looking for some resources, more and more MS message boards were designed and developed to provide people access to some important facts about multiple sclerosis.

Myopia Causes... Is It Really The Eye?

ป้ายกำกับ:

by Evgania Mehler

I started my last article titled "High Myopia - What Causes Myopia?" with saying that if you are easily offended by the truth, you better stop reading, and it applies for this article even more...

If you can't face the truth about your myopia causes and what's really needed to improve your vision, stop right here. If you can handle it, buckle up, you are in for a ride!

The truth is that the cause for myopia is not in your eyes at all. Your eye problem is merely a symptom of the cause. The real cause is psychological. And there are few psychological reasons, which we will cover over a serious of articles.

Today we start with my favorite, with the reason why so many younger people, mid to late teens, early twenties, get myopia. It is the fear of the future.

"What a load of B.S.", I hear many say, "my optometrist says it has to do with the shape of my lens", others might be thinking, but before you dismiss anything here, keep an open mind and let's have a look on how it all belongs together.

Myopia Causes From A Different Perspective

You see, our mind is so strong, that it can literally cause us to black out what we don't want to see. In our mid to late teens or early twenties we are faced with the question what we want or should do with the rest of our life. But the concept of days in relationship to a life-time can't be understood as yet, that only comes around by the time we are 40 - 50 years old (see "The Continuum Concept" by Jean Liedloff, p 43). How should we understand what we want to do every day of our life?

So when we are faced with the question what to do for the rest of our life, we get scared, and I mean real scared. But what does that have to do with myopia causes? Great question, hang in there.

How Does THAT Cause Myopia?

Humans in a state of fear get stressed. So stressed that our muscles become tense and tighten up. Now if that happens in our eye muscles, the muscles flatten out the eyeball, extending it like the zoom on a photo lens, and thereby altering the shape of the lens. The shape of the lens becomes stepper because the eyeball is filled with liquid and when it is squashed together, the extension causes a steeper shape of the lens.

Now putting glasses in front of the stressed eyes doesn't solve the problem because we are still under stress, in a state of fear, and our eye muscles are still tight as. The glasses only help us to see into the distance, the very distance we didn't want to see in the first place. So, as strong as our mind is, it just tightens the muscles a bit more, squeezes the eyeball further, and viola there is the next level of myopia, and you need new glasses.

This keeps going until you resolve the underlying reasons. Resolving the underlying reasons is much easier than wearing glasses, totally natural, cheap as chips in comparison to a life-time of paying for glasses, and you and your mind can get rid of myopia easily. Glasses on the other hand won't cut it, they will just increase the tension over time, worsening your eyesight every so often.

The Solution To Myopia Causes

The way to deal with your psychological causes for myopia is to do natural vision correction. That's it!

Now the fear of the future is only one possible underlying cause for myopia, there are many more myopia causes, but the concept is always the same. Your mind is putting tension on the eye muscles, which extend the eyeball, and therefore alter the shape of the lens.

You can do something about your myopia causes, and you should, because clear vision without glasses is your birth right. You should be enjoying it every day of your life. There is no reason in the world why you shouldn't.

Little Known Sciatic Nerve Treatments

ป้ายกำกับ:

DI Andrews

If you suspect you are suffering from Sciatica Nerve pain you should speak to your doctor right away. You should have a thorough examination to find out the extend of your symptoms. It’s also common for the symptoms of Sciatica Nerve pain to be linked to other problems, so the pain may not necessarily be the cause. This is why you should be honest and thorough with your doctor when discussing all your symptoms. The doctor can then decide if the symptoms are directly related to Sciatica Nerve pain or if they are part of something else. Also, only your doctor can decide the best treatment for Sciatica Nerve pain if that is the diagnosis.

If you suffer from Sciatica nerve pain, a physician may recommend several different sciatic nerve treatments for you. His recommendations will depend on how severe your case is. Physical therapy is often recommended as a first step. This is particularly important if you suffer from a herniated disk. Pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications may also be recommended for short periods of time, but the patient needs to be aware of the side effects of these medications.

To relieve pain in patients with Sciatica Nerve problems a physician sometimes uses steroids injections. This is a very aggressive treatment and is only used when a patient's ability to move is severely restricted by the relentless nature of their pain. The steroids reduce the inflammation associated with the nerve pain, but they can be very dangerous if not used properly. Therefore, the law prohibits anyone from receiving more than three of these injections annually. Unfortunately, the injections only ease the pain for a short time and three injections are never enough to help patients with this chronic pain.

Surgery might be considered as an option, as it is the most guaranteed cure for Sciatica nerve pain, but it is usually considered as the last choice. In cases of a severe state, in which numbness of the legs and back or even bladder and bowel disorders are symptoms, surgery is advised. Ease in pain occurs after the surgery but then again leads to other disorders afterwards. Clear-sightedness should be observed before opting for surgery.

Indeed, Sciatica Nerve Pain is considered a very serious condition; therefore it is wise to see your doctor as soon as possible. What initially starts with numbness in the legs and lower back, can lead, if untreated, to a potential loss in leg movement, eventually leading to a complete loss of bladder and bowel control. It is not uncommon for those suffering with the early symptoms to assume the pain is due to muscular inflammation, and so assume that OTC medication will help to relieve, and eventually cure, their condition. However, treated in this manner, the condition can leave sufferers with irreversible nerve damage.

Doctors will advise on other kind of treatment for you depending on the severity of your symptoms and advancement in medicine. Easing pain is the initial stage of medication; acupuncture is also considered a sure way of easing signs of Sciatic Nerve Pain.

Finding A Cure For Gilbert's Disease

ป้ายกำกับ:

By: Mason Hinton

Are you one of those people who are affected by the scourge of Gilbert's disease? Do you feel that you are helpless against the pain and discomfort that it brings? If you do, here are the top three sets of questions that you might want to ask and be answered. Through these, you can get direct answers to questions that hound your mind and can even help you recover-emotionally-as well.

Question number 1: "What causes Gilbert's disease? Do a viral infection or bacteria cause this condition or can this be passed on in some other way? Is Gilbert's disease a chronic disease?"

Answer: the abnormal number of the bilirubin in the blood causes Gilbert's disease, it is not caused by any viral or bacterial infection. It can be passed on through the blood. Gilbert's disease is known to be hereditary and it remains dormant inside the body for a long time.

Question number 2: "How can you find out if you already have Gilbert's disease? Are the symptoms of Gilbert's disease can be associated with jaundice and other liver diseases is this true? How does one find out if his or her condition is Gilbert's disease? Are there any specific symptoms?"

Answer: You need to be aware of the differences between the symptoms and the signs that are associated with Gilbert's disease and other liver diseases. Even though, there similarities the differences are also there. Unfortunately, Gilbert's disease sharing the same symptoms with other diseases is true but if you can look into it further you can spot the minute difference.

Question number 3: "Is there any new method to alleviate, or treat, the symptoms of Gilbert's disease - yellow eyes, stomach pains and uneasiness? Is it due to the excessive amounts of bilirubin in the blood?"

Answer: You have my understanding. This inherited condition (hereditary) affects just about two to five per cent of the population. It is considered that the situation occurs as a result of troubles in metabolizing the bilirubin. There are more than a few forms of the condition that can be distinguished on biochemical testing. As an outcome, the levels rise and clinical jaundice that you graphically depict occurs.

The condition appears to be not as good as after fasting and during a mild illness. The jaundice then fades instinctively. There is no cure. You ask particularly if there is any new way to reduce the symptoms. I feel sorry that I have been unable to find out if there are any commercial or clinical treatment for Gilbert's disease.

This condition though is a fairly common sickness mostly amongst the Caucasian population. It's passed down all the way through families and not frequently considered being life menacing, but ought to still be diagnosed by a medical doctor. The syndrome compromises the body's capacity to process bilirubin in the liver and causes jaundice. Bilirubin is the yellow substance found in bile. Although the main and most general symptom is jaundice, there are as well quite a lot of other symptoms that you and your physician should be on the lookout for if you think you could have the syndrome.

You have to be very vigilant when it comes to understanding Gilbert's disease and the knowledge related to it because it changes constantly as doctors learn more about it. be aware that what can be the truth about it today can be different tomorrow.

The Soma Pain Killer

ป้ายกำกับ: , , ,

By: Jaun Koos

Soma is a generic drug available in powder form used to cure a person experiencing muscle spasms. However, it has since been banned from some nation"s markets, including Sweden as a result of the dependency problems it tends to cause to the patients. It"s sold under the brand names carisoprodol and sanoma in Britain. Soma blocks signals responsible for pain-sensation in the brain-nerve transit. This is used with a combination of physio-therapy for treatment of injuries.

The drug has been on debate recently with its cause of dependency on the majority of patients to whom it has been described, it has therefore been labeled thus and significant efforts have been taken to control its use. With its frequent contact of the neural system, Soma makes the patient quite prone to paralysis as well as a causing a whole range of other bad side effects. These include irregularly high heart-beat rates, losing co-ordination, experiencing seizures and loss of vision. Since the drug is essentially a hallucinogen, the respective states have since made effort to put up legislation that outlaws their use without prescription.

Being quite a sensitive drug, the patient is required to make known all the information that concerns the health, including any drugs currently in their possession that might have been bought without prescription. This is because any negative reaction with the patient"s current state may cause severe discomfort without the doctor"s knowledge. It is also important to get as much information on the drug as possible since misinformation may cost you your health. Therefore, make good use the expertise of your pharmacist as well as any other information portal that you may access.

While administering the drug, the patient to whom it has been prescribed should not indulge in any sharing and should keep to the regular schedule as instructed by the physician. Since it is habit forming, the patient may have withdrawal signs once they have completed their prescription and it is therefore not advisable to stop its intake abruptly. If at all the patient feels a need for this, they should talk to their doctor first who will then advise them accordingly.

The Downside of Human Growth Hormone Treatment--Risk

ป้ายกำกับ: ,

by Pearl

When it comes to treating human growth hormone diseases there are certain products, supplements and methods available. There are basically two types of HGH diseases-- growth hormone deficiency and growth hormone excess. If an individual has either one of these diseases, he will often have growth abnormalities.

Doctors will explain the sides effects of the different procedures and methods such as surgery or pituitary irradiation to patients if they opt for these procedures. However, the side effects of HGH supplements and product that are sold in the market are not totally explained in their respective descriptions. Normally, these HGH products' marketing materials will claim that they benefit the consumer in many positive ways such as aging, raising HGH levels and increase in muscle mass. But, due to lack of information, many consumers do not know the risk they are taking when they decide to take HGH supplements.

HGH supplements do have many side effects. These side effects often vary between individuals because of the different reaction each person has in regards to HGH supplements. Some individuals may be allergic to specific ingredients while others will not react to those ingredients. The sides effects of HGH supplements can result in chronic diseases mild diseases and even fatal outcomes. The use of HGH products without the guide of professionals may result in acromegaly, damage to liver and thyroid gland, being diabetic, swelling of the heart and hair growth on the body.

A commom fatal side effects of HGH supplements is the rise of blood pressure. People who have a history of hypertension are prone to this side effect. People who are dieting and using HGH supplements should pay close attention to their blood pressures. High blood pressure or hypertension is very deadly and has claimed many lives in the world.

Diabetes is another side effect of HGH supplements. It is a disease where a person's body could not control the rise and fall of his blood sugar levels. People who are diabetic should be very caucious before they take HGH supplements. They should consult a doctor before taking HGH supplements to determine the risks and benefits. A person might experience disturbed sleep if taking HGH supplements. Even though some people claim that HGH makes sleep better, disturbance in the sleep cycle of an individual still occurs after taking HGH supplements. The reason behind that might be partly due to the onset of dreaming or the sensitiveness of an individual to the increase in dopamine and other drugs. Other possible side effects of HGH supplements may include breast enlargement in men and organ enlargement to both men and women. And these supplements can also cause heart failure.

Due to the popularity of HGH supplements in recent years, there are many products being advertised through the internet and other publications. All of these supplements claim that they can reverse the aging process, improve deficiencies in HGH levels and increase muscle mass in the individual. These supplements comes in many forms; injectables, oral sprays, pills and natural herbal releasers. One of the most powerful attibutes of these supplements use to attract consumers is the ability to reverse aging. People are just obsessed with beauty and the possibility of forever youth that they are open to any method in order to achieve their dream of being young again. Another magnet that draws people to these supplements is the assumed capability to increase muscle mass and to stimulate the production of more lean muscle tissue. On top of that, many companies that are deperate for buyers often offer discount on prices and offer promos. Nowadays you can see all kinds of human growth hormone supplements everywhere. The main reason that these supplements exist are due to different functions and possibilities that they offers to human. Nonetheless, people should be very vigilant on any research or information alerting the possible side effects, instead of just believing the advertisement blindly.

In Praise of Co-Ed Gyms

ป้ายกำกับ:

Brianna Popsickle

They say, "When one door closes, another opens." I was reminded of that recently when it was announced that my gym was closing for one month for renovations. Everyone was skeptical it would re-open at all. I was really upset.

I had been a member of the all women' gym for two years and loved it! I got to know and like the staff, as well as the women I'd met while working out five days a week.

Another gym caught wind of ours closing, and offered us a free month trial at their facility. Theirs' was co-ed and offered much more in the way of equipment and space.

I wasn't a fan of co-ed gyms. I had a membership at one, years ago, and although I met a lot of great people, it wasn't ideal.

When I workout I like to plug into my ipod, and do my own thing, with guys there it's not always that simple.

Once I was running on the treadmill, when the guy next to me started to chat. He put his hand out to introduce himself, and reluctantly (I'm not the most coordinated person in the world.) I put my hand out to shake his. I lost my footing, and flew right off the back of the treadmill. My knee was burning, but I quickly shook it off, hopped back on and got back up to speed.

"Are you OK?" he asked.

"Fine." I replied, looking straight ahead.

"Well let's see if we can try this again," he continued, reaching out his hand.

"I'm Richard Dick."

Dick Dick? Are you kidding me? Who does that to their child? At that I lost my footing and for the second time in five minutes, shot right back off the treadmill, again! This time a couple of guys came to my rescue, as I fluffed back my hair and tried to stop the blood from dripping down my leg. Not one to give up, but totally humiliated, I got back on the treadmill.

Another guy at that gym was intent on doing whatever I was doing at the time. When I was on the elliptical he was on the one next to me, if I moved to the weights, he moved to the weights. He was nice enough, but he never came up for air, telling me his marriage woes and all about his first ex-wife. Not only was it uncomfortable at the gym, but equally uncomfortable, and awkward, when our worlds collided outside of the gym.

We ran into each other at a concert. I was with my son and he was with his. Turns out our sons were friends. He was totally embarrassed, and apologized for all his ramblings about his marriage and ex-wife. I told him it was no problem, and said I was happy to hear he had recently remarried. Turned out they were already separated. Had I still been going to that gym, I'm sure I would have known that.

Anyways, my point is, it's just simpler when you work out with women. You exchange recipes, you chat about family and work, and you usually come away feeling like you've had not only a workout, but an hour of therapy as well. It does wonders!

However, not wanting to miss a beat with my workout routine when my gym closed, I decided to give the co-ed gym a try.

Well it's been a month, and let me just say, "I'm loving it."

Men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes, slugging it out, doing whatever they can to be the best they can be. I admire that.

There are middle-aged women and older, in velour track-suits, who don't break a sweat or have a hair out of place. There are tiny, young athletic women strutting their stuff in lycra, who are half my age (and weight).

There's a gawky teenage boy, wearing a necklace and earrings, trying desperately to fit in, and an old man (probably eighty) who walks the treadmill at a snails pace, while wearing brown suspenders and a long sleeved cotton shirt.

There's a fit, thirty-something woman who sips on a Tim Horton's coffee, as she walks on the treadmill. (I know. I couldn't believe it either.) She's the same woman that scared me half to death one day as we were both listening to our ipods while doing our stretches. Suddenly I heard what I thought was a scream, I yanked out my headphones and turned around only to realize she was singing out loud to her music.

Not to be left out, there's the hard to miss, perfect looking, forty-something guy, Rolex and all, texting on his Blackberry as he works out on the elliptical.

Then there are my own personal favourites, the hard-core weight lifters. They're anywhere from eighteen to fifty; tall, short, tattooed, bald, but all, muscular. I can pretend to be viewing one of the many television monitors as I watch them sweat it out, while lifting hundreds of pounds of weights. On a good day, they'll do their stretches directly in front of the ellipticals. I tell you, working out has never felt so good!

So you see, it's true when they say, "When one door closes, another opens."

Not only that, but someone also once said, "For everything, there is a season." A co-ed gym may not have been what I was looking for years ago, but for whatever reason, it's working for me now!

Speech Pathology

ป้ายกำกับ:

by Jon McQueen

People with speech disorder often have difficulty in interacting with other human beings. Sometimes because of the way they speak, they are labeled as stupid, dumb, or inept. Main stream media is the cause for this stereotyping because they portray characters with this syndrome as brainless and nonsensical beings.

Contrary to the common belief, not all people afflicted with speech disorder are brain damaged. The causes of these disabilities can be related to accidents or can be genetically inherited.

Speech pathology is the study of speech impairment. They are the people behind the programs devised to aid people improve their verbal skills. Through their system, they could eliminate or minimize disorders like stuttering. They have also invented devices like the electro larynges which is a lot of help for people who lost their speech due to accidents.

The second part of speech pathology is the therapy sessions. People who conduct these programs are called speech therapists. They are the ones that interact with the most number of patients. Public schools that offer speech therapy to children are often headed by these therapists. These are free treatments that could help children with this deficiency. It is also very helpful because the earlier the child is diagnosed his/her chances of getting better are improved by a huge margin.

Those who opt for a more professional treatment may visit the nearest hospital. Most if not all medical facilities in the area offer a form of treatment or may refer one to clinics that do. There are a series of programs that one could apply for. Although most of the time it is based on the severity of the patient's case.

From previous articles regarding speech pathology, a successful outcome is accompanied by feelings of satisfaction. This may be true simply because of the fact that they were able to help a person with the basic human need, communication.

TMJ Solution - TMJ Disorders

ป้ายกำกับ: ,

By: Candy Lim

TMJ, or temporomandibular joints, are the joints of the jaw, connecting the mandible, or lower jaw bone, to the skull. They are essential joints: we use them for common activities like speaking and eating. Because of their frequent use, when these joints are afflicted by a disorder, the outcome can be debilitating. This is due, in part, because TMJ disorders can be medically elusive, with complexities that are not quite completely understood. Yet, TMJ disorders are more bothersome because of the fact that the disorders attack joints that people can't stay off of and let heal; they attack joints people can't help but rely on.

The Causes

TMJ disorders can be caused by one single factor, but they are more commonly caused by multiple factors. One of the main causes of TMJ disorders is simply muscle tension. Tightening of the jaw, head, neck and face muscles can lead to jaw pain, and a jaw that is stiff and unyielding. This tension may be caused by inner stress and anxiety or activities that cause stress on the jaw such as teeth grinding and gum chewing. A TMJ disorder may also be a response to misalignment of the jaw joint, structural problems within the jaw joint, or an injury a jaw may sustain through sports or accidents.

While causes of a TMJ disorder may develop over time, some people may be predisposed to them in earlier years. For instance, some people may have been born with structural problems or other birth defects that affect the alignment of the jaw. Some people may have scar tissue or bone damage from a jaw injury years earlier. Some people may have jaw displacement caused by a tumor or a wrongly positioned disc. In other instances, a TMJ disorder may be a result of inflammation caused by degenerative diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Risk Factors

While not all risk factors for TMJ disorders have been uncovered, most people afflicted with a TMJ disorder do possess commonalities among their lifestyles. Risk factors include stress and anxiety that causes muscle tension, habits that cause jaw strain such as nail biting, eating hard candy, and sleeping on one side of your mouth, an injury to the jaw or the head, and overstretching the jaw during dental or medical surgery. Though age and sex aren't huge risk factors, TMJ disorders do tend to affect people between the ages of 20 and 50. While some studies have determined that men and women are affected at an equal rate, a few studies tend to list women of childbearing age as the most risky demographic.

Symptoms

The symptoms of TMJ disorders aren't necessarily limited to the jaw. They can affect muscles in the face, shoulder, neck and head. The most common symptoms are joint and muscle pain, noise when the jaw opens and closes, inability to fully open the mouth or pain when doing so, and a locked jaw. More often than not, TMJ disorders involve mild symptoms, symptoms that go away on their own. They may come back from time to time, but they usually don't worsen. However, some people with TMJ disorders do possess chronic symptoms, symptoms that don't subside. Up to 12 percent of people with TMJ disorders have these chronic symptoms, ultimately having chronic pain that impacts their ability to eat, talk, yawn, swallow, and lead a normal life. Those with chronic symptoms are often affected on both a physical and emotional level.

Treatment

Treatment of TMJ disorders purposes to relieve jaw pain and restore full function and movement. A variety of treatments have proven to fulfill this purpose and, often, at-home treatment is all the treatment a TMJ disorder sufferer needs to seek. This can include wearing splints or bite plates for a set period of time. These devices help reduce grinding of teeth and the clenching of facial muscles, which ultimately relieves tension. Though effective, splints and bite plates should not be used for a lengthy amount of time because they can potentially permanently change the position of the jaw and teeth.

For those who suffer from chronic TMJ disorders, relief may be found with muscle relaxation practices, such as biofeedback (a relaxation technique where people learn to control a body function) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (a form of therapy that modifies an individual's behavior patterns). People may also find relief at their dentist office, with some dentists specializing in TMJ disorders. These dentists usually start by performing a series of X-rays and prescribing a specialized mouth guard. They may also recommend only eating soft foods for a set amount of time or teach a series of exercises aimed at relieving jaw tension and pain. If these treatment options don't take, microsurgery may be recommended.

But invasive procedures, such as surgery, are usually only reserved for extreme instances: it is recommended that people try less extreme measures before choosing more permanent ones.
